Named after Grandma Betty
Betty's Bagels serves proper bagels — made fresh every day and stuffed proper full — from the Victorian Station Buildings on Station Square, right in the heart of Saltburn.
Our story
Betty's is named after our founder Rebecca's grandma, Elizabeth — "Betty" to everyone who knew her. Her homemade goods are the inspiration behind the whole idea: somewhere homely, familiar and nostalgic, where everything is made with care and nobody leaves hungry.
After ten years running her own recruitment business, Rebecca saved up, travelled, and — when the perfect unit came up in Saltburn's Victorian Station Buildings — swapped CVs for cream cheese. Betty's Bagels opened its doors on Saturday 1st August 2026 and sold over 300 bagels on the first day — a story picked up by The Northern Echo.
"We've been insanely busy. We sold over 300 bagels on our first day and it hasn't calmed down since… we already have regulars who are coming in every day." — Rebecca, founder, in The Northern Echo
The menu runs from brekkie bagels in the morning — butcher's bacon, folded eggs, Whitby smoked salmon — to loaded bagels from noon, like the Reuben By The Sea and the Yorkshire Godfather. Every one comes on a bagel made fresh that morning: everything, plain or poppy seed.
We're open every day, 9am to 4pm — breakfast before the beach, lunch on Station Square, or a bagel to take down to the pier.
What we're about
-
Made fresh every day
Proper bagels — everything, plain and poppy seed — made fresh every morning and filled to order. When they’re gone, they’re gone.
-
Stuffed proper full
It’s on the sign and it’s in every bagel. Butcher’s bacon, Whitby smoked salmon, salt beef piled high — no mean fillings here.
-
Homely and nostalgic
Named after Grandma Betty, whose homemade goods started the whole idea. A warm welcome, good coffee and food made with care.
-
